The wavelength of operation minimizes the effects of atmospheric water vapour and carbon dioxide and the effects of sunlight on the temperature reading. The Cyclops has three operational modes; Continuous Measure, Peak Measure and Monitor.

Continuous measure: Displays the measure temperature. Peak: Measures the highest temperature. Monitor will measure continuously without pressing the measure switch.
