Genrad 1988 Precision Integrating Sound Level
Meter and Analyzer
The Genrad 1988 measures and displays sound-pressure
level (SPL or LEQ) or sound-exposure level (SEL) integrated over
selectable times ranging from 1 s to 24 h . Integration can be timed
manually or automatically. Two time ranges are available: 1 s to 600 s in
1-s steps and 10 min to 24 h in 1 -min steps.
- Digital and analog displays
- Digital display captures and holds maximum sound level for accurate readings
- 50-dB analog meter scale has 1-dB linear calibration
- Measurement Range:
*Sound Level Range: 30 to 140 dB in four 50-dB switch-selectable ranges.
*Frequency Response: A, B, and C weighting; 10 octave-band filters ranging from
31.5 Hz to 16 kHz; FLAT response 5 Hz to 20 kHz
*Detector Response: Fast, slow, impulse (per IEC651) and absolute peak, switch selected
- Displays:
*Analog: Meter 3-in. scale, 30 to 80, 50 to 100, 70 to 120 and 90 to 140
dB
*Digital Readout: 4-digit with decimal point
- Outputs:
*AC Output: Weighted, 400 mV rms nominal full scale
*DC Output: 3 V nominal full scale
- Meets the following standards (use 1987 or 1986 Sound-Level
Calibrator):
- ANSI Standard Specifications for Sound-Level Meters
S1.4-1971, Type 1 (Precision)
- IEC Standard 651-1979, Sound-Level Meters (Type 1)
- ANSI Standard Specification for Octave, Half-Octave, and
Third-Octave Band Filters for the Analysis of Sound and Vibration
