ITU-T Y.1564 is designed to serve as a network service level agreement (SLA) validation tool, ensuring that a service meets its guaranteed performance settings in a controlled test time. This standard ensures that all services carried by the network meet their SLA objectives at their maximum committed rate and perform long-term service testing. ITU-T Y.1564 testing confirms that network elements allow all services to be properly carried, while under stress during a soaking period.
ITU-T Y.1564 testing is for quickly confirming the end-to-end configuration; it defines the CIR (Committed Information Rate), EIR (Excess Information Rate), Traffic policing, CBS (Committed Burst Size), and EBS (Excess Burst Size). ITU-T Y.1564 testing measures the following items for all configured service traffic:
- IR (Information Rate)
- FTD (Frame Transfer Delay)
- FDV (Frame Delay Variation)
- FLR (Frame Loss Rate)
- Service Performance Test
The time duration of this test is based on the M.2110 standard, and it sends all configured service simultaneously at the CIR to confirm all traffic can be sent. ITU-T Y.1564 also checks the IR, FTD, FDV, FLR, and AVAIL.
