The Elcometer Pinhole & Porosity Detection Series features multiple tools that combat premature corrosion. Collectively, these products excel at the three flaw detection methods in this field: the wet sponge technique, the high voltage technique, and UV pinhole detection. The wet sponge technique utilizes a low voltage applied to a wet sponge. When the sponge moves over a coating flaw, liquid penetrates to the substrate, completes an electrical circuit, and sets off the alarm. The high voltage technique is best for coatings up to 25 mm (1") thick and inspecting pipelines. The UV pinhole detection technique requires a base coat of UV fluorescing additive that when shined on by a flashlight, the location of the pinhole is apparent.
