The 1864 is a Megohmmeter from General Radio measures insulation and has electrical insulation that can be checked using a class of electronic test instruments called HiPot, or high potential within the 1864. The 1864 Megohmmeter allows engineers to test electric motors, transformers, circuit boards, appliances, and cables with HiPot testing equipment. An item's insulation could degrade over time, leading to current flow leakage. By identifying holes and flaws in the electrical component, HiPot testers protect engineers from current leakages. Similar to HiPot testers are dielectric testers, insulation testers, and megohmmeters.
Genrad equipment is now manufactured by IET Labs, Inc.
