Vector Signal Generators (VSG)
RF Signal Generation and Simulation
Vector signal generators, or VSGs, simulate the communication between wireless towers and cell phones, producing signals that adjust for the device’s movement and trajectory. These devices emit repeating or non-repeating RF signals and are different from standard RF signal generators in that they augment a signal with complex modulations. VSGs feature high bandwidth and high-power operation with versatile waveform switching to work even when the waveform is sophisticated, such as smartphone testing. Many of today's advanced vector signal generators provide AWGN generation along with digital modulation, channel emulation, fading, and arbitrary waveform capabilities, making them powerful alternatives for complex RF and communications testing. Industry-leading solutions from Anritsu, Keysight, and Rohde & Schwarz support receiver sensitivity testing, carrier-to-noise (C/N) and signal-to-noise (S/N) measurements, satellite communications, radar, wireless, and EMC/EMI applications.
ATEC rents a variety of vector signal generators, and we also provide receivers to analyze the transmitted signal. See Signal Analyzers for more.
