CATV and DOCSIS (data over cable service interface specification) testers perform maintenance and troubleshooting for cable TV and internet networks. They primarily measure signal level and quality and identify external interference to ensure all frequencies work in harmony. However, they are also capable of performing tests across the network (sweep testing), or pinpointing physical damage to the cable (TDR, or time domain reflectometry).
