Cable Fault Locators
Cable fault locators, or thumpers, find faults in electrical cabling by sending high-voltage electrical impulses into a cable system until the impulse reaches the fault. They are often used alongside ground microphones, which measure the fault's position based on the "thump" that occurs when the thumper's impulse hits a fault, and underground cable locators, which can often locate the cable and its fault. These locators are most commonly used to test underground coaxial and twisted pair cabling, along with transmission lines and a plethora of other industrial electrical cables.
ATEC offers affordable cable fault locator rentals from leading manufacturers including 3M/Dynatel, High Voltage, Hipotronics, Megger, and many more.
