RF Shielded Enclosures

RF shielded enclosures utilize radiation shielding to reduce electromagnetic transmissions, filtering the range of frequencies emitted via materials like copper which can absorb both radio and magnetic waves. This protects devices from electromagnetic interference (EMI) that could potentially damage equipment or compromise the integrity of a signal’s source. These enclosures are used in both radiated immunity and radiated emissions EMC testing and provide a controlled environment in which to place the device under test.

What are TEM/GTEM Cells?

TEM (transverse electromagnetic) cells are pyramid-shaped objects used to test small RF devices at lower frequency ranges. Meanwhile, GTEM (gigahertz transverse electromagnetic) cells are in long, sideways pyramid-shaped test chambers lined with conductive material and capable of testing at GHz frequency. The base of the chamber is lined with radiation absorbent material and the side walls act as waveguides. Devices under test are placed between a stripline conductor called the septum.
