The Airbus AMD24C test standard, “Electrical characteristics of aircraft AC and DC systems,” is similar to the test procedures outlined in
RTCA/DO-160, Section 16 commercial aviation test standard. However, this standard has different test levels and applicable levels than section 16 because AMD24C focuses on AC/DC power compliance testing for the Airbus A400M military cargo plane. Specifically, this standard ensures that the electrical equipment connected to the AC power bus of the Airbus behaves predictably and safely.
AMD24C covers both AC and DC power buses; however, different equipment will be required depending on what is being tested.
Revision C of Airbus AMD24C covers three main specifications:
- Fixed 400Hz AC power
- Variable frequency AC power
- 28V DC power
Below is a table exploring these changes in more detail.
