Battery modules are made up of multiple battery cells together, which are then tested to measure how they perform under real use and integrate with all other battery system components. These modules can come in the form of on-board power supplies, rechargeable batteries, or high voltage battery systems.
Many battery-powered electronic devices must go through stringent approval processes. Battery module testers are designed to simulate complex real-world tests such as EV drive profiles, smart battery, and other custom charge/discharge cycling on the whole module (as opposed to
cell testing, which tests the individual cells). Many manufacturers of battery module testers also provide equipment to test the cells and packs.
Be sure to get the equipment that is right for your specific needs by checking which standards you must fulfill and which battery module testers can fulfill those tests. ATEC carries battery module testers from leading manufacturers such as
NH Research,
Chroma, and
ITECH.
